Event Host… The Charles W. Brown Planetarium, 2000 W. Riverside Ave, Muncie, IN 47306. The 2017 Live Interactive Planetarium Symposium will be hosted by the new Charles W. Brown Planetarium on the campus of Ball State University. The planetarium has a 16-meter (52 foot) diameter dome with 152 seats and an integraded, HYBRID system (a GOTO Chronos II optical-mechanical projector integrated with a 4K RSA Cosmos digital system). Ball State University has over 20,000 students on a 700 acre campus. There are four professional astronomers that conduct research with students using telescopes located on campus, in Arizona and Chile. Ball State alumni include Jim Davis, creator of Garfield the Cat, and David Letterman.

Bus transportation will be provided by the university for guests throughout most of the conference.
Why use the event hotel? Besides convenience and provided bus transportation, note that there is NO free parking at Ball State University prior to 5PM. Anyone driving will have to pay for parking at one of three parking garages on campus or on the street where meters are available. However the event hotel do offer free parking to guests and there will be free shuttle bus service to campus.
The conference rate will be available for nights of July 17-21.
Getting to Muncie…Take your best route to I-69 to Muncie. Take exit 241 (old exit 141) and head East towards Muncie. If you are staying at the Hampton Inn turn left on N Chadam Lane and left again at the 4-way stop. Hampton Inn will be straight ahead on your right.
If you fly into Indianapolis (IND): If you are traveling from the Indianapolis airport and need transportation to Muncie, please indicate this when you register and we will do our best to accommodate.
What to Pack... Layers are always a good plan. Average temperature is mid 70’s, but the record goes from 65 to 85. The dress code for the event is casual (your definition).
Local Attractions... Plan some extra time in Muncie and add a visit to the AMA National Aviation Museum – the largest collection of model aircraft in the United States. Just north of Downtown Muncie, the Minnetrista hosts engaging exhibits, theatre experiences, expansive gardens and trails, and more. Experience the Oakhurst Gardens, located along the banks of the White River that includes six acres of gardens and the renovated 1895 home of George and Frances Ball and Discovery Cabin – a hands-on information station to the gardens.
Many engaging sites are located on the Ball State Campus. Christy Woods offers 17-acres of wooded area and is home of three greenhouses and the renowned Wheeler Orchid collection. The David Owsley Museum of Art has an outstanding collection representing cultures from around the world for the past 5,000 years. The new Marilyn K. Glick Center for Glass supports the practice of contemporary glass arts at Ball State and in the East Central Indiana Region. Construction is ongoing at Ball State as it is becoming home to the nation’s largest ground-source, closed-loop district geothermal energy system.
